Don't know about the 2002 seat but I have an '87 and I had the same problem. I changed the handle bars to a set of Harley cafe' low handle bars and it sets me more upright and gets me off the tailbone. I tried changing seats even repadding the stock seat but nothing helped. Someone on here was talking about changing the bars to get a different riding position and wooooo hoooooo I can ride for hours again instead of 30 minutes at a time. It's also a lot cheaper than a new seat. The bars cost $35 and a new seat can run from $200 to $600. Or you could have yours repadded by a pro but that will still run $50 to $150+/- depending on the shop.
I recomend tring the bars first.
